Composition
Here is my first photograph displaying quality composition. The focal point is not directly in the middle of the photograph. This photo has asymmetrical balance due to the differing subject matter on both sides. The unifying qualities of both planters in the foreground and the planters in the background form a harmonic composition with some variety.
In the second photograph, some of the same features of a quality composition are visible. The lack of an "in jail" subject, the harmony that flows between the objects in the garden, and the variety of plants in the composition.
This is an example of a weak composition. Although turtles can be quite interesting, this is a boring composition with a lack of motion. The turtles are too centered and do not create the desired 'balanced" effect. The balance of this photo is too symmetrical. The only unifying aspect of this photo is the same species of turtle. The habitat appears to be disjointed with a lack of unifying qualities.
This last example displays a disjointed composition. The only unifying qualities in this photograph are the plants. There is no motion apparent in this overly symmetrical photo. The composition would be improved with more variety and a more dominant subject.

Hello,
I switched into this class at the last minute and am trying to get this blog up and running as soon as possible.
